MSPP Staff & Students Spend a Saturday at “The Food Project”

On October 31st, a group of MSPP students and staff spent the morning hauling compost, digging up weeds and planting garlic at The Food Project in Roxbury, MA. Our group leaders were teenagers who directed us and showed us what to do. Helping put this urban farm “to bed” for the winter was an inspiring, team building day for all. The Food Project’s mission of providing youth leadership opportunities and bringing youth and adults of diverse backgrounds together to build a sustainable food system made the work that much more important to the participants. Our small contribution to this wonderful organization helped their goal of producing healthy food for residents of Boston and its suburbs. For more information on The Food Project, visit

“The passion and dedication of these teenagers was amazing. There was something moving and peaceful about doing this kind of work with such energetic and committed young people.” —Leigh Rosenfeld
