MSPP Admisssions
The Admissions Office at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology is your first step to making your dream of becoming a Mental Health Professional a reality. The discernment of choosing the right graduate school is critical and the Admissions Office is here to assist you with this process.
MSPP seeks a diverse group of students who demonstrate academic and clinical aptitude, with personal qualities that will enable them to function creatively and effectively in working toward the amelioration of a variety of human problems. The mean age of the entering students in the past five years has been 27: 75% women, 25% men, 13% minorities, and 13% foreign born students, and fewer than 1% disabled students.
Admissions at MSPP seeks to identify students who are intellectually and emotionally capable of completing the academic and clinical requirements necessary to become professional psychologists capable of providing high quality human services. The process is designed to help both the School and the applicant determine whether the applicant has the essential intellectual and personal attributes necessary for admission.
Each applicant is evaluated on a number of specific criteria, such as: career potential; creativity; motivation; self-awareness; sensitivity; responsibility; adequate planning and preparation for graduate work; emotional stability; and maturity. Assessment of potential is made on the basis of past academic performance, practical experience if available, personal qualifications, references , as well as indications of the applicant’s commitment to the profession.
