Description: In this program we will discuss definitions of the variety of special needs with which children enter early childhood settings, with a review of developmental "red flags" and atypical child development. This will include observable examples of the various presentations of special needs in cognitive, linguistic, social, and emotional development; the elements of developmentally appropriate practice and strategies for inclusive classroom adaptation; tips for effective communication with parents; and a review of general resources for children with special needs.
