Description: Children love to pretend: playing house, becoming a superhero or princess, or going to the moon in a cardboard spaceship. Explore the role of fantasy play in the development of toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary-age children. Discuss common questions and problems: how to respond to physical wrestling and karate kicks; issues around pretend gun play; gender stereotyping; "tie-in" toys that can encourage a consumer culture.
