John Desrochers, PhD

John Desrochers has been a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist for more than thirty years and has served on the adjunct graduate faculties of Fairfield University and Southern Connecticut State University in Connecticut and Long Island University in New York teaching courses in behavior therapy, psychotherapeutic techniques, psychopathology, and school psychology. He earned his doctorate in Educational Psychology: Schooling from Columbia University, is certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA), and is listed on the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. He also holds graduate degrees in remedial reading, behavior analysis, and family therapy. His research interests are in behavioral assessment and intervention, psychotherapy, and professional issues, and he is currently writing a book on depression in school-age children, due for publication in 2012. He works as a consultant to school districts and as a school psychologist for the Westport (Connecticut) Public Schools. He is the editor of the NASP Communiqué and a member of the editorial advisory boards for the Journal of Applied School Psychology and School Psychology Forum. He is a former president of the Connecticut Association of School Psychologists (CASP) and Connecticut Delegate to NASP. A recipient of the CASP Distinguished Service Award and two Presidential Awards from NASP, he was named the NASP School Psychologist of the Year in 2007.
